How Can I Use Market Data Replay?

2 min read

In DAS Trader Pro, the Market Data Replay Mode allows you to simulate and practice trading on past data. This enables traders to simulate live trades and test strategies without risking real capital.

To access Replay, navigate to “File” and select “Data Stream Mode” to open the Quote Mode window.

Under the “Quote Mode” drop-down selection box, users can switch their platform from Normal mode (real-time) to Replay Mode (recorded market data). Select “Apply”.

The middle section (Replay Management), is where you can enter a Symbol, select a Date, and click the “Download” button to download the relevant symbol data for replay. Any symbol except for options can be replayed.

The bottom section is the Replay section, where the “Load…” button is used to select symbol the symbol, and the data for the date just downloaded. Click “Ok”.

Now that the past data is loaded, users can use the “Up Down Arrow” button to adjust the replay speed, and use the “Goto…” button to jump to the exact date and time they want. (Ensure the replay data for the selected date has already been downloaded!)

In Replay Mode, users can open the Montage window to view the quotes and to place test orders for it. Note that test stop orders will trigger on bid/ask and last sale is not used like in the live environment. Users can also open the Chart window to view the chart, open the Time&Sales window to follow the time and sale data, open the Account, Position, and Order windows to track the BP, Equity, and Profit and Loss…etc.

Please note that Replay mode will not work during market hours in any live trading environment. If you wish to have access to Replay mode during market hours, you will need to subscribe to our Simulator environment.
